Sasha's Perfect Day -One Small Step at a Time

It was the perfect, Late spring morning. Donnie and I headed out on an all day adventure with Sasha in tow. Earlier in the week, I had someone try to recruit me for a Saturday project, and although it was somethin I would normally have said yes to, I explained that I had a date with my husband that I would not cancel. I was so excited for us to put our many projects and responsibilities aside and just spend a day exploring.

After we ate breakfast out, we headed to Ponies on Petit Jean to see the Mustang Car Show. Then we ventured on a hike toward Cedar Falls. The trail is rocky and in some places steep, plus my agility is not what it used to be, but one small step at a time, we arrived and the view was so worth it.

Donnie and Sasha navigated the trail with no problem and I'm pretty sure it was the best day of Sasha's life. She made a million new friends and received so many "What a beautiful dog!" complements.

Small steps seem to be a theme for me right now. Two years after we sold our home in the country and the office on Main Street, I am still slowly unpacking and purging a box here and there. I always joke that the new office is a ten-year project, but we have made great progress one small step at a time.

I am still reading almost daily in the morning for about 20-30 minutes a day and continue to be amazed at how many books I am flying through. The Imagine and Believe Foundation is slowly but methodically adding more and more adoptive and foster families to serve. We now serve for than 180 families -- and all of us that contribute to that success are volunteers.

Donnie has been on stage with his Southern Gospel band, I would guess, over 100 concerts in the past three years that we have been married. I can't even imagine how many times he has performed on stage during his life. Just one show at a time, but so many have been blessed. And, one step at a time, we have published nearly 3 million copies of the local magazine that I started 25 years ago.

So many times I have felt overwhelmed by the magnitude of so many things to do, but I am learning to see the value in those small steps.

As you relax and take a moment for yourself to browse this site, realize that you can be inspired, just one story at a time and that YOUR story will unfold one small step at a time.
